Thank you for visiting the Lei-Kei Farm website! If you're interested in fresh, non-certified organic produce, harvested at peak ripeness and delivered weekly to your area, then you've come to the right place! Through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, we supply Northern Virginia residents with a variety of fresh vegetables, herbs, and sometimes fruits on a weekly basis for 18 weeks, late Spring through early Fall. We also offer the option to buy certain foods directly from the Farm.
Participation in a CSA is a great way for you to support your local farmer and, by doing so, encourage the growth of small farms throughout the country. It's also the best way for you to get fresh vegetables and herbs that have been grown using all organic processes, without doing it yourself and without paying the price at your local store. Because you're getting the produce the day it's picked usually, the food will last much longer than the food you would normally pick up at the grocery store, which is often picked a week or so before it gets to the store. Each CSA has "members" who buy "shares" of the Farm. The number of shares available in each CSA will depend on the size of the particular Farm. For 2011, Lei-Kei Farm will have 120 shares available. Some CSAs require that Members put in a few hours of work each year, but at Lei-Kei Farm, we do all the work for you.
When you buy a share, Lei-Kei Farm promises to provide, to the best of our ability, a plentiful supply of varied vegetables, herbs, and special items each week for 18 weeks. As you will learn through your participation in the CSA, farming comes with certain risks, based primarily on the weather and surrounding environment. We appreciate your support and understanding as every year brings with it new challenges.
Lei-Kei Farm has Members in two areas of Virginia - the Winchester area and the Alexandria/Arlington area. Please see our CSA Membership page for more information on each and contact us for exact information for your area. In addition to providing fresh, organic veggies, we provide a Newsletter each week with fun tips and good recipes; we also have a group Facebook page that we encourage all of our Members to join so Members can communicate with each other and with us throughout the season!
Thank you for visiting our site -- we look forward to you joining our program and hope you find it as enjoyable and rewarding as we do. Happy Eating!!
